Meet the team at Worldwide Experience
Our team at Worldwide Experience is made up of the following staff members:
STEVE HOLT – Financial Director, Worldwide Experience
Steve’s RoleI am responsible for all of the Group’s UK companies, in respect of all financial, regulatory compliance and some legal and administrative matters.
Steve’s Favourite Project
Shamwari Game Reserve - because I have seen this Reserve grow from it’s early days, followed by the volunteer project and strongly believe that this has been a world leader in conservation. The volunteer project takes full advantage of Shamwari’s expertise, offers a very varied experience and also a lot of fun for the participants, which cannot really be matched, anywhere in Africa, possibly the world.
Steve’s Top Tip
Manage your money carefully when saving for you placement. Many students book over six months in advance and often lose track of their savings. To assist you with this we have set up a handy paying in scheme that allows you to make instalment payments towards your placement as and when suits you and your finances.
KATHRYN NOAKES – Sales Executive
I am the Sales Executive for Worldwide Experience. My job role is to help anyone looking to do a volunteer placement, find the perfect program for them and offer my advice. I really enjoy hearing the excitement from the volunteers when I discuss with them what they can experience on a program and they realise that they can make a difference.
Kathryn’s Favourite Project
My favourite project would be a combination of experiencing hands-on conservation work, being part of a community outreach program and spending time at the coast for when you have ‘free time’.
Kathryn’s Top Tip
My top tip for our volunteers would be to go on the programs with eagerness to learn and participate, be prepared to have fun and you will gain invaluable experience and knowledge. If you have space in your bag take a diary this will be a great reminder of what you experienced when you get home.
ANITA BRIDGER – Sales Administrator
Anita’s Role
My role in the team as Sales Administrator is to process all day to day tasks of brochure requests, payments, updating of client files, posting of documents and to help ensure that everything is prepared before clients are due to travel on their amazing experience.
If you have any questions or queries regarding your booking or just general information regarding your placement, please feel free to ask! We are all here to help and assist you in any way we can.
Anita’s Favourite Project
My favourite project we offer would definitely have to be Shamwari Game Reserve. This is a really hands on conservation experience, which gives you the chance of seeing wildlife at their best in their natural environment and of course at Shamwari you will also get to see the famous ‘Big 5’. You will gain experiences there like no other as we want you to be involved as much as possible for all work that is carried out on the reserve. By doing this it will give you a fantastic and informative insight into Wildlife conservation issues.
Anita’s Top Tip
Be prepared for your trip! The game drives can get very cold (especially the morning ones) so do take a couple of thick jumpers with you to stay warm (not white though as insects love white!). During the day though the sun can get very strong so make sure you pack your sun cream also to protect yourself. Have a fantastic time!!
RACHEL HILL – Sales & Marketing Manager
Rachel’s Role
As the Sales & Marketing Manager I am responsible for representing the company at events such as Higher Education Fairs, Schools, Colleges & Universities alike. I am also in charge of the marketing for the company. I have a great passion for wildlife & conservation, after an 8yr background of selling South Africa as a destination and Shamwari Game Reserve I have recently been lucky enough to get involved with Worldwide Experience and contribute towards making changes in people lives. The projects we offer are truly amazing and I hope together we can make a difference.
Rachel’s Favourite Project
It is very difficult to choose a favourite from our extensive portfolio however if I had to choose one I would have to pick Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre.
The centre does such fantastic work and really allows our students the opportunity to get hands on with their conservation efforts. The main draw card for this project is that it offers not only a hands on rehabilitation centre experience but also the Big 5 Game experience at Kapama Game Reserve, so you get the benefit of both.
Rachel’s Top Tip
Make sure you take a good camera to document your experience. If you are spending two weeks or more on a game reserve or conservation project then chances are you are going to be exposed to some pretty incredible stuff. Your stories when you get back home will be made even more exciting with some amazing pictures to go with them.
