BORN FREE FOUNDATION

Born Free at the forefront of conservation helping to keep wildlife in the wild.

South Africa

The Born Free Foundation Big Cat Sanctuary is based on the world renowned Shamwari Game Reserve. Based in the southern part of the reserve, where rescued lion and leopard are held in enclosures of 1 hectare (100m x 100m). These animals have been rescued from all over the world, and relocated to their most natural environment, this being Shamwari.

Working together with the Born Free Foundation and Shamwari - Worldwide Experience volunteers have the opportunity to contribute to conservation by assisting in maintaining the sanctuary - first hand. Every little helps and you can expect to get involved with any thing from eradication of alien plant forms to assisting the veterinary surgeon.

Here you will get involved behind the scenes on the day to day operations of the sanctuary that is home to many of Born Free rescued cats. Worldwide Experience make a financial contribution to Born Free and Shamwari for evfery volunteer on the project.

Working together in Kenya…..
Volunteers have an opportunity to work the Colobus Trust, their mission being to strive towards the conservancy of the highly endangered Colobus monkey and other primates in the area. As part of this placement you will also spend time at the N'gozini School which is supported by Born Free, here you will assist with the dedicated projects set up by BFF and the local community.

 CLOUDOG CHARITY

clouddog™ aims to lead an initiative into our local communities and inspire and encourage our youth, the adults of tomorrow, to explore careers in environmental and conservation related fields, and to enrich an existing environmental interest.

The responsibility to educate our children is ours. The need to act is now.
clouddog™ aims to open up the broader world of conservation and environment to a group of carefully selected students who might not otherwise have the exposure.

A period of practical work experience alongside experts in the field, coupled with wilderness trails and community based projects in southern Africa will aim to increase their knowledge and awareness of conservation and the environment and potentially shape their future educational and career considerations.

clouddog™ is structured to work across geographical borders with the collaboration of the JP Morgan UK and South African offices. It is designed to offer the opportunity to a total of 12 students between the ages of 16-18 years. This age group, on the brink of important life choices, is where we believe the greatest impact could be made.

 TUSK

Tusk promotes the conservation of all African wildlife and particularly the protection of endangered species. Tusk's holistic approach to conservation also recognises that the long-term future for wildlife is dependant on sustainable human development. At the end of 2005 Prince William announced his Royal Patronage to the charity.
