We are currently building our fantastic new accommodation at Shamwari Game Reserve. The new facility will prove to be exceptional and help cement our programme at Shamwari as the top conservation project in South Africa.

The centre can accommodate up to 30 people, and is located 2 minutes from Shamwari’s award winning wildlife centre.

The location is ideal to enable our volunteers to assist with the day to day running of the wildlife centre as well as the newly opened wildlife hospital as seen on Animal Planets “Shamwari a Wild Life” TV series.

Features of the accommodation are:

  • Fresh water dam for swimming
  • Entertainment area
  • Located on predator free section of reserve for volunteer freedom/safety
  • Fully Homoligated Land Cruiser vehicles
  • Fully trained and experienced programme coordinators
  • Tented fly camp

The Competition

Madolos, our current accommodation, was named after Dr Ian Player, who is well respected for his love of the wilderness and work to save the white rhino. Dr Ian Player’s Zulu name is Madolo meaning “the knee” and this is why it was named Madolos after this inspirational man.

To celebrate the new accommodation we want everyone to get involved and think of a special name that represents something just as important as Madolos, so we would like to hear any of your interesting suggestions and ideas.

The winner of the competition will not only have the satisfaction of naming the new facility, but will also receive a two week placement at Shamwari Game Reserve** to experience the volunteer centre. This is a fantastic prize worth £1199.00, so come up with a name that you think would represent the place well!
