Project of the month
Our featured project of the month is our new “Bruce Little’s sculpting course”. If you have a passion for art and wildlife then this project is ideal for you!

The Bruce Little Sculpting course was established a few months ago with some hard work from our colleagues in South Africa and we are very keen to get you budding artists out there to create some masterpieces.

The course allows you to get a behind the scenes experience on a game reserve with plenty of game drives and walks on the reserve giving you the chance to study animals up` close and to produce an amazing bronze wildlife sculptor at the end to remember your experience by.

While on your stay Bruce Little ,a famous photographer and sculptor ,will give you demonstrations and talks to improve your skills and learn more about how to accomplish the artwork you desire.

You will get the chance to work on photography, drawings and sculpting making this course very diverse and appealing. For those who are interested, there is also the opportunity to assist behind the scenes with the reserves various conservation activities.

Our two new courses
We have just introduced two new, unique courses, to our already extensive portfolio. We are proud to present the Plettenberg Equestrian Academy and The Christina Martin School of Food.

The equestrian course based close to Plettenberg Bay. This course is ideal for anyone with a passion for horses and working with them and where better to do it than in this beautiful location in South Africa. The course has been set up on a farm where students are accommodated as well. The course works towards your SANEF exams as well as giving you a chance to get involved in farm activities working with horses. This course does not only give you a quality education in the equestrian field, but gives you the chance to do work experience and learn about every aspect.

The Christina Martin School of Food course for any budding chefs out there that would love the chance to learn all aspects of cookery to an extremely high standard. The course is based at the Westville hotel in South Africa and works on teaching the student how to make these dishes, before the monitor the student creating the dish themselves. When they are competent enough they will be given the opportunity to do this in a work environment giving them the experience to become an amazing chef.

Competition announcement
We are sorry for the delay in announcing the winners of our name the accommodation competition, but after much deliberation we have now come up with a name for the new student accommodation at Shamwari.

We have decided that the best idea we had was Shamwari Student Lodge – Molweni. Molweni is a Xhosa word means Welcome. We thought it was the most appropriate name for the house as it has been built on Xhosa land and as a home from home for all of our volunteers it truly lives up to its name!

We have two winners to this competition, their names are Yvonne O’Neil Imperiale and Adam Luke Lord. Please join us in congratulating them on winning the competition, but we would like to thank everyone else who also sent in their ideas as it was clear you had all put a lot of thought into it and it was a tough decision to make.

If you are interested in a placement to Shamwari to stay in the new accommodation click here to apply
