Project of the month
Our project of the month for July is The Colobus Trust in Kenya. We have been working closely with the staff at The Colobus Trust for a number of years now and have seen the project grow from strength to strength with the help of the Colobus Volunteers. This project is great for all you monkey lovers out there and gets you up close and personal with a number of primate species including the highly endangered Colobus Monkey.

The project is located an hour from Mombasa and is hidden away within twenty hectares of beautiful coastal forest, making it an ideal site for ecological and behavioural studies. Our conservation volunteers get the chance to work alongside the experienced team to help conserve the Colobus monkey as well as working with other primates in the local area. It is also a key task of our volunteers to help educate the local communities on conservation issues of these species.

INTERESTING FACT

Become a Game Ranger
Our fantastic 6 week game ranger training course at Shamwari Game Reserve is the perfect opportunity for you to take you interest in wildlife and conservation to the next level.

The course puts you through the accredited FGASA level 1 training which is then concluded with a final exam. On successful completion on the course you will be legally qualified to take guests out on game drives into the African bush.

As well as the conservation aspects of the course you are also taught 4x4 off road driving skills, rifle handling, first aid training and much more.

We have courses throughout the year with limited spaces on each, we currently still have spaces for the 12th October – 22nd November 2009 course, so if you would like to train up and learn what life is like to be a game ranger then this will be the ideal course for you.
