In the effort to continue the expansion of meaningful volunteer opportunities in India, Worldwide Experience has developed a comprehensive Animal Rescue and Care Project in Jaipur, India. Aimed at rescuing, protecting and caring for the population of abandoned and mistreated animals in the busy city of Jaipur, volunteers will play an active role in outreach efforts to rescue neglected animals.

Volunteers also become involved with community educational and awareness campaigns, direct care and treatment of ill and mistreated animals and community adoption projects.

The project will include an in-depth orientation period as the placement requires no veterinary experience-only a motivation and an eagerness to help. Participants also benefit from local cultural excursions and organized workshops, which will allow them to fully experience and become immersed in the exciting and fascinating Indian culture.

Primary Animals to be cared for and rescued: Cats, Dogs, Elephants, Camels, Cows, Donkeys and Monkeys

Animals' Situation in Jaipur, India
Rapid urbanization is still taking place in most part of India, occuring at the expense of many animals' health and wellbeing. Areas once inhabited freely by animals are quickly being encroached upon by urban development. These unfamiliar urban environments leave animals vulnerable to mistreatment, disease, and inadequate nourishment.

In cities like Jaipur, where poverty and poor infrastructure consume most of the community dialogue, taking care of neglected animals is usually considered a distant priority of the government and private social activists alike. Indian has laws in place that protect animals but they are not effectively enforced, nor are they taken seriously by most of the community.

Upon arriving to India, international travelers are often immediately awestruck at the overwhelming amount of abounded and uncared for animals that flood the streets of urban areas. Unlike, more developed societies, India does not have the proper resources to adequately address the problem of neglected and overpopulated animals. Worldwide Experience intends to empower these concerned international travelers to help free animals, first hand, from suffering and neglect.

Worldwide Experience has now aimed to try and improve the wellbeing of these mistreated animals in India through the help of volunteers like yourself. Participants can utilize their empathy and passion for animal rights by helping to redress the deprived conditions that countless animals face every day on the streets of Jaipur.sa

Due to the nature of the work, we cannot guarantee exactly what volunteers will participant with as it is based around what is needed at the time. However volunteers should get the chance to involved with some of the following:

  • Outreach animal rescue missions:
Volunteers will accompany an ambulance vehicle to tour the city of Jaipur, identifying sick and neglected animals. The ambulance will transport the animals back to the shelter, where the proper medical care can be administered.
  • Animal Rescue Hotline:
Volunteers will assist the administration and call-taking of an animal rescue hotline, where concerned citizens can call to inform of a specific neglected animal.
  • Adoption Program:
Volunteers will run a wide-reaching adoption program, helping to promote the community's embracement of stray cats and dogs. All adopted animals will receive free medical care from the Animal Rescue Campaign.
  • Community Educational Awareness Campaigns:
Volunteers will launch creative awareness campaigns in community centers and local schools to stress the importance of caring for and adopting stray animals and provide information on how to assist the animal rescue imitative. Volunteers will distribute advertising pamphlets that include the hotline number and encourage adoption.
  • Vaccination and Sterilization programs:
Volunteers will assist a vaccination and sterilization campaign. Rescued animals will be sterilized and freed of potentially harmful diseases.

Location
Jaipur, India: Rajasthan's beautiful city Jaipur, was the stronghold of a clan of rulers whose three hill forts and series of palaces in the city are still important attractions. Known as the Pink City because of the colour of the stone used exclusively in the walled city, Jaipur's bazaars sell embroider leather shoes, blue pottery, tie and dye scarves and other exotic wares which are popular choices for volunteers as presents and souvenirs to take back home.
Being located in Jaipur offer the volunteers a wide variety of experiences like cultural visits, shopping and travel to interesting locations nearby. A safe and relatively slow-paced town, Jaipur offers a perfect mix of traditional and modern India.

Volunteers will also have the opportunities to become part of various art shows, dance performances, festivals and other such cultural events during their free time. As an exciting and vibrant city, Jaipur is definitely somewhere to consider during your travels around India and the world!
