TESTIMONIALS

"Attending the Wildlife Film Academy was one of the best decisions of my life. Coming from England I had the obvious doubts about coming abroad to undergo a film course. However I did have high expectations as the course came highly recommended. Even so when I started the course I was pleasantly surprised at how high the quality of teaching was from all aspects of wildlife documentary production, from story writing, camera work and all aspects of the editing suite. After the course, Sonette Ellis the course Manager for the Wildlife Film Academy, put me in contact with Lyndal Davies from Rock Wallaby productions, who together with her team were working at the film unit in Shamwari Game reserve. The experince I gained while at the film unit was second to none. There is only so much you can learn in the classroom about the ins and outs of different jobs. So having five weeks working for a production company improved and increased my skills more than any other form of learning. I was worked hard but I also had the best time, who could not have fun while working in the middle of a game reserve? Waking up each morning to the sound of lions, then driving the reserve to the office each morning- I could not have asked for a better place to be.

As Daniel had to leave to continue his travels, the Wildlife Film Academy organised for past student Hayley Cocks to join Lyndal's team. Hayley was put to work straight away and was up all night bottle feeding a tiny baby cape mountain zebra! Hayley says, "Its an amazing place and I can't believe how much I have learnt in just two weeks. Thank you so much to the Wildlife Film Academy for organising this - I'm living the dream".

- Daniel Beare

"The course has been great and my head is full of ideas. I learnt a lot about camera operation and the principles of editing. The lecturers were inspiring and very interesting. My internship organised through the Wildlife Film Academy has been very rewarding and reinforced the principles of my learning."
- Alice Clarke, U.K.

"Attending the course presented by the Wildlife Film Academy has been a milestone in my life! Every dimension of the course has been handled very professionally with lecturers who are truly world class! In terms of scope and depth, it definitely provides an excellent baseline and foundation. The course truly prepared and equipped with a very wide range of pre-requisite knowledge and wide range of skills to enter the world of wildlife filmmaking. The background provided on the total process of filmmaking with the practical experience gained through producing the short film is invaluable in preparing myself towards tackling larger scale projects."
- Marna Cilliers-Hartslief, South Africa

"I learnt a different approach to work in this industry, they covered a lot of information through discussions and specific lectures. The lecturers were appealing and the field trip was absolutely enchanting. I learnt how to make my story possible, by comparing my personal opinion with the lecturers and students. The Wildlife film Academy has been well disposed to satisfy my desires and they were very helpful and supported me with my project. When I came back home I felt as if I had woken from a dream."
-Aldo Di Berardino, Italy

"I learnt more in a few days at the Academy than I did in my few years in the industry! Everything was put into perspective and we were taught lots of handy information and tricks of the trade others wouldn't dare! It crushed a few myths and reinforced the facts. I loved it and I'm so inspired."
- Kagiso Leepile, South Africa

"The lectures told us everything we needed to know. They were very informative and helpful and covered a lot but in a very digestible teaching style. Covered lots of interesting topics and had good discussions. It was great to use different types of cameras. If a student is keen, they can get access to any information they require from the Academy!"
- Ben Hewett, U.K.

"On the field trip I had my first real taste of what could happen out there! Excellent facilities and the staff went out of their way to make us feel at home. As a small group, I found it ideal and it was great to have the availability of a tutor on hand for suggestions or comment. The lectures were exciting, interesting, captivating, innovative. I feel like I could start my own business and I feel a lot more confident…I had a lot of fun."
- Alienes Femmers, South Africa

"A concise yet informative overview of the entire process of wildlife filmmaking. Technical, creative and business angles were all covered in depth which balanced perfectly with the field trip; our chance to put what we had learnt into practice. Enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff made this a thoroughly worthwhile experience and left me with the inspiration to pursue this as my career."
- Freya Pratt, UK

"Attending the course opened my eyes to the wildlife filmmaking industry and has given me a strong base to work from. The HD lectures were brilliant. They covered so much in a short period of time and gave us a good idea of all the kit we needed as well as how to use it and the industry trends as a whole. Inspiring, brilliant and thorough! The facilities were great."
- Fergus Clark, South Africa
