Worldwide Experience is proud to present the Ultimate Conservation Voluntour, an experience which takes volunteers on a conservation journey through South Africa showcasing several of our conservation projects along the way! Experience several of our conservation projects in one trip, along with other conservation initiatives within our network; initiatives based on strong relationships with industry partners established over the past 15 years!
Plus, we will be giving away 15 prizes to voluntour participants during the course of the trip! Prizes will range from autographed books to a weekend getaway at a Mantis property! Each participant is guaranteed at least one prize with a chance of winning other prizes!
Being a boutique experience, our Ultimate Conservation Voluntour is hosted at Mantis Collection properties!

The Ultimate Conservation Voluntour offers you the opportunity to view the “Big 7”! You will learn about the conservation threats that these and other species face, as well be a part of the efforts to conserve these species and their habitats. Our dedicated guide will host your entire Voluntour, endeavouring to ensure you have a wonderful learning experience filled with fun as you explore South Africa and our projects. You will leave with a stronger understanding of conservation issues, knowing that you have made an important contribution.
This 15 day boutique Voluntour starts in Cape Town, progressing along the famous Garden Route of South Africa, ending along the spectacular Sunshine Coast of the Eastern Cape. On arrival, you will be welcomed at Cape Town International Airport by our dedicated professional Ultimate Conservation Voluntour guide, and transferred from the airport to your accommodation at 18 on Hillwood.
Day 1 & 2: The Last Word Constantia, Cape Town, Western Cape Going beyond boutique hospitality, our accommodation offering is complemented by unmatched levels of personalise service. A fiver star experience awaits at The Last Word. This hotel is an enchanting rendezvous with Olde World beauty in a modern day Eden. Relaxation areas command arresting vistas of the Constantia Valley. Welcomed seclusion is provided by a sunken pool, surrounded by an expansive tanning deck. A main attraction is the hotel’s luscious garden, designed to capture a small piece of this region’s natural grandeur.
Day 3 & 4: Pearl Valley, Val De Vie Estate, Paarl, Western Cape
Unsurpassed for natural beauty and nestled in the gorgeous Berg River Valley, surrounded by the magnificent SimonsbergMountains and situated on the banks of the Berg River, lies Pearl Valley Golf & Country Estate. Situated between Paarl and Francshoek, with Stellenbosch and Cape Town a short distance away.
Day 5 & 6: Lake Pleasant, Sedgefield, Garden Route, Western Cape
The Garden Route, a panoramic region idyllically placed between the Indian Ocean and the Outeniqua and Tsitsikamma mountains, is home to Lake Pleasant Living Exclusive Self Catering Holiday Suites in the Knysnadistrict. This charming property, built on the edge of one of the few natural freshwater lakes in the southern hemisphere, is a serene retreat set in the picturesque Goukamma Nature & Marine Reserve.
Day 7 & 8: NyosiCamp, Hopewell Conservation Estate, Port Elizabeth
Nyosi Explorer represents a modern contemporary trails camp nestled in the most sheltered valley, deep in Hopewell. Five contemporary tents lie within carefully selected areas to give the best possible views over the estate. A trickling stream flows past the camp which is secluded and sheltered. Tents are spread apart to ensure privacy, whilst being close enough to not feel isolated. All Tents have en-suite bathroom facilities, allowing guests to have a hot shower after activities. An experienced guide will be with guests at all times and also sleep at the camp. Secluded relaxation areas are spread throughout the camp, giving visitors the ability to escape their tent and bed down in a quiet space within the camp environ. The camp is unfenced and this allows for wildlife to wander freely. The dining deck is the focal area where guests will relax and enjoy wholesome meals prepared in front of them with local seasonal ingredients around a warming fire-pit.
Day 9 – 11: Founders Lodge, Eastern Cape
Founders Lodge was the private residence of Adrian Gardiner, founder and visionary of Mantis Collection and Shamwari Game Reserve. The lodge is situated on a 400 hectare reserve adjacent to and with direct access to Shamwari Game Reserve, in the malaria free Eastern Cape of South Africa. With the co-operation and agreement of the current owners of Shamwari, Founders Lodge has undergone extensive renovations to enable Adrian and Mantis to convert Founders into a self contained commercial lodge. Game drives are on the adjacent 25 000 hectare Big 5 Shamwari Game Reserve and guided walks on the Founders private 400 hectare reserve. The secluded Founders Lodge, with only 6 suites and scenic surrounds, aspires to offer private tailored experiences, drawing inspiration from all the fond memories Adrian had of hosting friends, family and celebrities at Shamwari.
Day 12 –14: MyPond Hotel, Port Alfred, Eastern Cape
MyPond Hotel is a beautiful 4 star boutique hotel situated on the banks of the Kowie River in Port Alfred. MyPond is operated by one of the most prestigious Hotel Management Schools on the African continent: Stenden South Africa. As a guest you may therefore expect excellent service standards and warm and dedicated hospitality in a beautiful setting.
Day 15: Oceana Beach and Wildlife Reserve, Port Alfred, Eastern Cape
Oceana Beach & Wildlife Reserve in Port Alfred, Eastern Cape, South Africa offers ultra-luxurious accommodation that includes a select group of unique guest suites in the Ocean Lodge and Private Ocean House as well as spectacular individual private chalets. Our Africa-shaped knife-edge pool has a marked point where you can rest your chin that is the absolute centre of Oceana.
The Western and Eastern Cape regions are malaria free areas.
